The formula, explained
duration = end − start − breaksSelect “next day” when the shift ends the following day. This totals time; it does not determine overtime or pay.

Overnight example
From 22:00 to 06:00 the next day, with a 30-minute break: 8 hours minus 30 minutes is 7 h 30, or 7.5 decimal hours. 7.30 decimal hours does not mean 7 h 30.
