Rhombus prism volume calculator
Calculate the volume of a prism with a rhombus base using its two diagonals and perpendicular height, then read the equivalent in litres.
Enter your values, then calculate.

The formula, explained
d*e*h/2d : First base diagonale : Second base diagonalh : Perpendicular prism heightA flat shape alone has no volume. This calculates the solid formed by adding a perpendicular height to that base.
An example to check
Using the starting values below, the calculation gives:
Base area × perpendicular height — The rhombus base area is 24 cm². Multiplying by the perpendicular height of 4 cm gives 96 cm³, equivalent to 0.096 L.
Use both diagonals of the same base and the perpendicular distance between the bases, not a sloping edge. For capacity, measure inside the container and allow for the fill level.
How to use this tool
- Measure the two diagonals across the rhombus base, joining opposite corners.
- Measure the perpendicular height between the parallel bases. Choose one unit for all three lengths.
- Multiply the diagonals and divide by two to find the base area, then multiply by the prism height.
A worked example
With base diagonals of 8 cm and 6 cm, the base area is 8 × 6 ÷ 2 = 24 cm². A perpendicular height of 4 cm gives 24 × 4 = 96 cm³, equivalent to 0.096 L.
Does a flat rhombus have a volume?
A flat rhombus has area. This tool calculates a three-dimensional prism whose base is a rhombus. Use the rhombus area calculator if you only have a flat shape.
Can I use a sloping edge as the height?
No. Volume uses the perpendicular distance between the two bases, including for an oblique prism. A sloping edge is generally longer.
How do cubic units convert to litres?
1 cm³ = 0.001 L and 1 m³ = 1,000 L. For container capacity, use internal dimensions and allow separately for the fill level.
Can I use a decimal comma?
Yes. Numeric fields accept 12.5 or 12,5 and spaces for thousands, such as 1 234.50. Do not mix a point and comma in one number.
Where are my inputs processed?
Calculations run in your browser. Form values are not sent to Analytics. Copying, printing, sharing or opening an external service is your choice.
